Lupa Brandt

  Pronouns: She/Her/Hers

Chairwoman of the Board of Directors 

Co-Founder/Deputy Director and CFO

 

Lupa was born in Atlanta Georgia and has served in the United States Army in Military Intelligence. She is a member of CZI's Formerly Incarcerated, Convicted Persons and Families Movement. She is an Activist and Lobbyist with the National LGBT/HIV Criminal Justice Working  Group and is frequently found on Capitol Hill fighting for equality and criminal justice. She had experience with transgender individuals in prison having served 33 years on the inside herself. She is an honor graduate of Georgia Equality's TRANS-action Leadership Academy and using skills acquired there has become a public speaker, tireless warrior for equality and  criminal justice/prison abolition. She formerly worked as the Community Outreach Coordinator for TRANScending Barriers Atlanta. She is the co-founder and Deputy Director/Chief Financial Officer of the Phoenix Transition Program. In her free time she is with her husband Jamil-Jack Abreu . She is a magician and musician, plays guitar, bass, and 5-string banjo.  

Jamil-Jack Abreu

 Jamil-Jack was born and raised in Miami, Florida from Afro-Cuban & Afro-Puerto Rican Parents. He is the youngest of 5 siblings. Jamil-Jack is POC Transman .He is an advocate in theTransgender community and Co-Founder and Director to the Phoenix Transition program. He ran a support group in Macon GA in 2016 along with his wife Lupa Brandt. Lupa Brandt is a Trans-Women and advocate in the community. They have been married for 4 years. They live in Atlanta GA and had volunteered his time to non-profit organizations. Jamil was a victim of police abuse of power, rape, and discrimination. Jamil-Jack's Mission is for Inclusion & Visibility of trans-men in all spaces. He is a graduate of Georgia Equality's Trans-Action Leadership academy. He is in the leadership team for Invisible Men Atlanta chapter. He also been featured in Trans Living Magazine. Jamil-Jack's goal is for more visibility within the Trans-masculine community and to uplift those who are facing financial hardship. In his free time he enjoy listening to Billy Alsbrooks, a motivational speaker. He also enjoys spoken word, and playing the saxophone.  

Phoenix McGill

Board Member 

 

 Phoenix Xavier McGill was born in Chambersburg Pennsylvania and raised in Philadelphia Pennsylvania in the foster care system. Phoenix is a  African American Non-Binary person living in the  South. They are the founder Of Shannon’s Arms Foundation, They created this organization to bring awareness of overdose in the community in loved ones close to us that go unnoticed. They are  an uprising leader in the community.  They are a board member for Phoenix Transition Program in Atlanta Georgia. Phoenix has always been a caring person especially in the youth LGBT youth community. In Phoenix’s adolescent years they used to participate in volunteering at a local church Celebration Church in Columbia Maryland as a youth counselor and mentor in the community. Phoenix has personally contributed of their own time and finances in the community providing temporary housing assistance to other TGNC individuals in their own home.  Beyond his tattooed and pierced exterior Phoenix is inspired to be recognized as a leader and support to those in the community in their time of grieve and hardship.
